Obituary
Anthony “Tony” Tomaselli, passed away at Providence Place, Drums, on Wednesday, November 12th, at the age of 90. He was born on Mother’s Day in 1935. His family greeted him as a great gift.
He was the son of the late Leo and Rose (Cavallo) Tomaselli. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his brother Cosmo Tomaselli; niece Mary Lee Yamona Mumaw; brother-in-law Joseph Yamona; and great grand-nephew Joel Anthony Mumaw.
Surviving are his sister Clemie Yamona and sister-in-law Theresa Tomaselli, Hazleton; cousins Gary (Mary) Buschta and Joseph (Donna) Tomaselli, Allentown; residing in Albuquerque, NM are grand-nephews Joel and Samuel (Leah) Mumaw, great grand-nephews Jacob, Ryan, and James Lee Mumaw; great grand-niece Hadley Hayden; and extended family Lita, Antonette, and Ariana Suina.
He loved to travel and was a frequent visitor of Italy where he visited many uncles, aunts, and cousins of the second and third generations of the Tomaselli and Cavallo families.
He attended Most Precious Blood Parochial School and graduated from Hazleton High School in 1952. Anthony was a hard worker from a young age, holding jobs in retail and in manufacturing. After high school, he attended Seminars in sales which, along with a singular focus to help his family, lead to a successful career in mobile home sales. He retired feeling grateful for his contributions to their success.
In retirements, Tony, a.k.a Moose, enjoyed his free time. Golf became a dedicated pastime which led to new relationships and social opportunities. He was a car enthusiast, frequent traveler, and avid Penn State football fan attending home and Bowl games over many years.
Above all and throughout his life, family always came first. He was a devoted, son, faithful brother and supportive uncle over many generations.
His memorial service will be held on Friday, December 5th , at 1 P.M. in Calvary Cemetery Chapel with Reverend Anthony Generose officiating. After, he will be placed to rest in peace in the Mausoleum in Calvary.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date at Our Lady of Peace Parish at Most Precious Blood Church, Hazleton.
The Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton, is assisting with his final arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Peace Parish at Most Precious Blood Church, 131 E. 4h St., Hazleton, and American Cancer Society PO Box 2306, Hazleton.
Anthony enjoyed living at Providence Place and, as his health needs increased, was grateful for the changing levels of nursing and personal care provided by the staff and subsequent addition of Advantage Hospice Care services, especially caregiver Delila. His sister, Clemie, thanks everyone at Providence Place for the kindness and care Anthony received over the years of his residency. She also thanks Reverend Anthony Generose and Chaplain Stefan Dinu for fulfilling Anthony’s spiritual needs and comforting family at this difficult time.
