Obituary
Joyce C. Sasso, 77, of Leesport, PA, passed away on October 25th at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center, Reading after a brief illness. She is the youngest daughter of the late Louis and Elizabeth (Yanoski) Cassarella.
Joyce graduated from Hazleton High School in 1966. Following her marriage to Clarence J. Sasso in 1969 they first moved to Morton, PA, then to Pittsburgh, and finally to the Reading area. Her primary ambition was to create and nurture a family life. She was the central pillar in raising three sons, Eric, Matthew and Jeffrey. Her greatest happiness was to assist in her children’s growth to become responsible adults. Joyce also has three grandchildren Anthony, Alex, and Devon that share her love. And her dog, Brandy, was a constant beloved companion.
Joyce’s desire to help was also reflected in the working environment. Here she took on customer service opportunities for several companies over the years. Her last job for the 10 years before retirement was with Arrow International who recognized her strong, almost compulsive, attention to detail. She worked for research and development engineering as a documentation specialist for heart cauterization products. She was also a member of their continuous improvement team.
Joyce’s surviving siblings are Louis and James Cassarella, and Lorraine Domchick, all of Drums, and Janet Maurer of Wyomissing. There are also many nieces and nephews.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 2nd, at 11 A.M. in Good Shepherd Church, Drums. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday morning in the church from 10-11 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Penn State Health St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Bern Township in her memory. The Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton is in charge of the arrangements. - Guestbook
