Marcia M. (Marchese) Gortva, 66, of Hazle Twp., entered into Eternal Rest, unexpectedly, on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton. Marcia was born in Hazleton on November 10,1958 and was the daughter of the late Jean E. (Roskop) in 2006 and Andrew A. Marchese, in 2021.

She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish at Most Precious Blood Church, Hazleton.
A 1976 graduate of Hazleton High School and McCann School of Business, Marcia enjoyed a long-time career as an Executive Accountant & Notary for several businesses throughout the area, including SSPTV. She retired from her position at Energy Technologies on March 26, 2025.

As a mother, wife, "nanny”, daughter, sister, aunt & friend she was the epitome of love. She lived up to the family motto, expressed by her parents to "Love one another and care for one another as I have done for you.” Marcia was a fabulous cook; she loved to entertain and enjoyed family gatherings. As an avid fan, Marcia could be found watching Penn State College Football games or listening to Elvis. Marcia’s passing leaves a void in the lives of everyone who knew her.  She was a light in everyone’s lives she touched.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, are her husband, George Gortva, in 2022; son Michael J. Bodner, in 2018; sister Mary Jean Reimold in 2022; and nephew Clint Reimold, in 2018.

She is survived by her sons Steven Bodner and wife Jeanne, and Andrew Gortva; Step-daughter Tara Gortva; grandchildren Emily Jean Bodner, Kerril Lanum, Andrea, Angelina & Koal Gortva; sister Deborah Lesante and husband Samuel; brother Joseph Marchese and wife Debora; and several nieces and nephews.
