      Michael A. Gombeda, 81, of Hazleton, passed away Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.  Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Michael P. and Flora (Clabia) Gombeda and was a member of Most Precious Blood Church, Hazleton.
       
      He graduated from Hazleton Sr. High School and Williamsport Institute of Technology.  He was employed as a draftsman for the city of Hazleton in the engineering department.
       
      Michael was a skilled artisan in many mediums.  He was known by his family as “Mr. Fix It” who always came up with a solution with a cheerful heart. 
       
      Michael loved visiting flea markets, playing cards with friends and belonging to pool leagues.  He treasured watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.
       
      Preceding in death, in addition to his parents, was his brother Joseph Gombeda.
       
      He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Jean Louise Martini; son Michael and his wife Joelle (Surmick) Gombeda; granddaughter Gianna Maria Gombeda; grandson Michael Joseph Gombeda; mother-in-law Dora Mahalick; brother-in-law Robert (Marlene) Martini; sister-in-law Doreen (Robert) Mathuse; nephews Joseph Z. Gombeda, Ryan Martini, and Justin Mathuse; and several cousins. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
       
      His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 1st, at 10 A.M. in Most Precious Blood Church, Hazleton.  Burial will be in Most Precious Blood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Monday morning in the church from 9-10 A.M.
       
      The Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton, is in charge of the arrangements.

      Joelle and the Gombeda Family, We were so sorry to hear of the passing of your dear father-in-law,husband, father, grandfather. I know how deeply you loved him and what a wonderful part of your lives he was. Please find comfort in knowing that you were a great source of love and joy in his life. You are all in our hearts and prayers now, and as you go forward.
