Obituary
Mary Ellen F. Gibson, 72, Hazleton, passed away on Sunday at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton. Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Corrigan) Farley.
Mary Ellen was a member of Bishop Hafey’s first graduating class in 1971. She attended St. Gabriel’s High School, Hazleton, until the high school closed in 1970. She then attended Penn State University and also graduated from McCann’s School of Business. She previously worked for Fran’s Janitorial Service, Hazleton. Mary Ellen loved reading, doing crosswords and crocheting. She loved in particular, “her boys”, dogs Shamrock and Gibson.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was a son Tommy Bzdil.
Surviving are her husband, Leonard “Lenny” W. Gibson Jr., Hazleton; sons Timmy Bzdil and companion Marisa, Freeland, and John Bzdil, Hazleton; stepsons Leonard W. Gibson III and his wife Renee, and Anthony Gibson and wife Lauren, both of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren Cody Bzdil and his companion Hanna, Kalli Bzdil, Kelsey Bzdil, Gavin Bzdil and his wife Brittni, Maddox Bzdil, Kiara Bzdil, Braydon Gibson and wife Ava, Rylee Gibson, Carstyn Gibson, and Mackenzie Gibson; and love of her life great granddaughter Quinn Bzdil. Also surviving are brothers Joseph Farley and his wife Sharon, and James and his wife Dee, both of Harrisburg, and John Farley, Hazleton; sister-in-law, Peggy Ann O’Donnell and her husband James, Northern Virginia; brother-in-law Timothy Gibson and his wife Sue, Newton, PA; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Special thanks to a loyal friend Sharon Korba, as well as Dr. Butt, Dr. Shoemaker, Dr. Bobby, Dr. Bronstein, Dr. Reifsnyter, Dr. Montgomery, and the staff at the Kidney Center.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 6th, at 10 A.M. in Saint Pius of Pietrelcina Parish at St. Gabriel’s Church, Hazleton. Burial will be in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 5th, at the Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton from 6-8 P.M.
