Obituary
Michael J. Ator Jr. entered into eternal peace on the 19th day of May in the year 2026 at Cedar Crest Hospital in Allentown. Mike was surrounded with love and admiration by his wife Kim, daughter Bryanna, sister Cindy, and his soon to be son in law Jeremy; four of the most important people in his life by his own words.
Mike was born in Hazleton at St. Joseph’s Hospital to his late mother, Rita Olexa Ator, and her late husband, Michael Joseph Ator Sr. He was raised and lived in the Hazleton Area graduating from Bishop Hafey High School in the year 1980 before entering the contracting world as a dedicated, and very talented craftsman, specifically carpentry.
Mike is a man who lived and loved with unimaginable and intense passion. He was greatly respected by his peers for the above-mentioned intense passion for not only life, but also music, cooking, golf, his family, and especially his animals. Knowing Mike, you knew almost immediately how much he loved his cats. Late at night, when he thought no one was around, those cats ate like kings and queens, and they knew it! This was soon followed by leaving the house early to go partake in a round of golf with his PXG clubs to enjoy the outdoors for a few hours.
Mike had a strong urge to always help others whether it was with a project in their home, learning a new skill, or just needing to talk about the vast wonders of life. If you knew Mike, you knew he had a very unique outlook on all things living and what was to come next. His love for music brought him into a place of understanding when it came to lyrics that he felt so deeply. Songs like “Dust in the Wind”, “Carry on My Wayward Son”, and so many others spoke to him in ways most could not comprehend, but you better believe he would do his best to help you.
He had an intense burning love for, and fear of leaving his family, but also knew that he would never truly leave their sides. He will be remembered and talked about for generations for his passions, especially with the love all those around him felt for and with him.
Surviving is his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Kimberly (Hiza) Ator, Drums; daughter, Bryanna Marie Ator and her fiancé, Jeremy Kistler, Drums; Cynthia Ator, sister; and the most adored in his life, his cats, Zoro, Thunder, Yapper, Tux, and Princess.
At this time no arrangements have been made for services or a celebration of life. If a date and time is decided, it will be announced at a later time. The Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton is in charge of the arrangements. -
