William A. Pompella

William A. Pompella, 93, of Hazleton, passed away Monday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton.  Born in White Haven, he was the son of the late Dominic and Bessie (Schoch) Pompella and was a member of Most Precious Blood Church, Hazleton.

He was an Air Force Veteran during World War II and was a lifetime member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars.  He was also a very active member of the Hazle Twp. Senior Citizens.  He was a mail carrier for many years.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his wife in 2013, the former Rosemarie Diana; brother Stephen Pompella; and sister Eleanor Cronick.

Surviving are his son Dr. William P. Pompella and his wife Mary, Pottsville; grandson Nicholas Pompella; sister Margaret Yakubowski, Foster Twp.; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 27th, at 11 A.M. in Most Precious Blood Church.  Burial will be in Most Precious Blood Cemetery.  There will be no viewing.

The Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton, is in charge of the arrangements.
