Rose M. Cammisa

Rose M. Cammisa, 89, of Hazleton, passed away Sunday, February 10th, at the Residential Home Welfare and Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre. Prior to her passing she had been a resident at The Laurels Senior Living Community, Hazleton. Born in Hazleton, Rose was the daughter of the late Luigi and Concetta (Perri) Cammisa.

Rose was a 1948 graduate of Hazleton High School. She was employed at Honig Factory and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Upon retirement she worked for the Head Start Program of Hazleton where she was affectionately referred to as “Grandma Rose”. A life long member of Most Precious Blood Church she was an active member in the Altar and Rosary Club, and various volunteer organizations.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her brothers Sabatino, Michael, Sam, Joseph, Dominic, Frank and sister, Mary Anne Simonelli. She is survived by her brother Anthony Cammisa, numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and great grandnieces, and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Most Precious Blood Church, Saturday, March 2nd, at 11 A.M. Friends may call Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 at the church.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Luzerne County Head Start Program, in memory of Rose Cammisa, 23 Beakman St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
