Michael E. Provanzo

August 5, 2017

On August 5, 2017, our beloved son Michael died from an accidental drug overdose.  He was 22 years old.  We do not want his death to be in vain.  Michael did not want to be an addict.  His demons were more than he could handle.  Addiction is a disease and does not discriminate.

As a child Michael was full of fun and happiness.  He is loved deeply by his family and friends.  His adventurous spirit showed up in everything he did, from tattoos, clothing, hairstyles, and ambition.  He was feisty and loved to debate his point of view.  He loved playing X box, his love for the game took him to California to play in the Chappie Challenge.  He loved being with his nieces and his nephew.

His struggle with addiction began at an early age.  Many loved ones did everything they could to get him to stop but the drugs won their battle.

The day Michael died a part of us died with him.  We will miss him everyday for the rest of our lives.

Michael has found the peace he desperately searched for in the world.

Michael was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Carmen and Irene (Wandishin) Provanzo; uncle Carmen Provanzo; aunt Lucille Stecker.

Michael will be greatly miss by his mother and father Joseph and Judy (Stecker) Provanzo; brothers Joseph and his wife Alysia, and Giovanni Provanzo; nieces and nephews Gianna, Carmen, Cecelia, and Trinity Provanzo; grandmother Carmella (Penkala) Stecker; aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his girlfried Hallie Potts and her daughter Nevaeh Lloyd.

Michael was a loving soul whose family was always in his heart.  His funeral will be held on Friday, August 11th, at 9:15 in the Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. in St. John Bosco Church, Conyngham.  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.  A celebration of Michael’s life will held on Thursday in the funeral home from 6-9 P.M.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center, 60 Hill St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
