Joseph M. Roman, 74, of Hazleton, passed away Wednesday at his home.  Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Neal “Archie” and Anna (Zambotti) Roman.

He started his working career as a truck driver and mechanic for his father Neal Roman and Sons and then retired after 23 years, as a fire driver for the Hazleton Fire Department.  He resided in Hazleton all of his life and was a dedicated family man.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, the former Michele Barbotti; daughter Kimberly Mehalshick, Hazleton; son Gerald “Jerry” Roman, Hazleton; grandchildren Alyssa, Michele, and George Mehalshick Jr, Brandy, Kandace, Jessie, and Justin Roman; great grandson Mason; brothers Neil Roman Jr. and his wife Cheryl, Hazleton, and Jamie “Cheeseman” Roman, Hazleton; sister Darlene Trotsky and her husband Thomas, Cedar City, UT; and nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton, on Monday, October 9th, from 6-8 P.M.  Burial will be held privately in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
