Joseph L. Rutulo

Joseph L. Rutulo, 94, passed away Thursday at Fritzingertown Senior Living Community, where he had been a resident.  Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late John and Jennie (Palermo) Rutulo and was member of Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church, Hazleton.

He was a Navy Veteran during World War II serving in the South Pacific on the Peleliu Island.  He was honored as a member of the greatest generation from West Hazleton Improvement Club and was also honored for his military service from Wilkes University. 

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his wife in 2014, the former Marie J. Gentle; brother Francis “Francy” Rutulo; and sister Florence Bott.

Surviving are his nieces and nephews JoAnn Schell and her husband Frank, Atty. Lewis Bott and his wife Rosemary, Francine Rutulo, Jane Mikulca and her husband Peter, Joseph Gentle and his wife Mary Lynn.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 14th, at 10 A.M. in Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church.  Burial will be in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Monday morning in the church from 9 A.M. until the time of mass.
