Janet A. Kislan, 90, of Hazle Twp., passed away Friday night at the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton.  Born in Eckley, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Helen (Dubis) Ferko and was a former member of The Shrine of the Sacred Heart Church before their closing and was currently a member of Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church.

She was a graduate of Foster Twp. High School and attended Marywood College.  She married her childhood sweetheart, Thomas, who she met while growing up in Eckley.  They lived in Staten Island while he attended dental school and moved back to Hazleton where her husband opened his dental practice.  Janet worked alongside her husband as a dental assistant.  After their son, Thomas, was born, she became a stay at home mom.  She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and son, was very active in the Hazleton Garden Club, and loved all animals.  Even as she got older she enjoyed keeping a flower and vegetable garden.  Her true favorite pastime was spending time with her grandson Ryan, whom she adored.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband Thomas A. Kislan DDS Cmdr. USNR, and 3 infants sons.

Surviving are her son Dr. Thomas Kislan and his wife Sandi; Drums; grandson Ryan Kislan; sisters Patricia Ferko, West Hazleton, and Elaine Superdock and her husband David, Bloomsburg; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 2nd, at 9:30 A.M. in Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church.  Those attending should go directly to the church Tuesday morning.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.  Friends may call at the Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton, on Monday from 5-8 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hazleton Animal Shelter, PO Box 481, Hazleton PA  18201.
