Guy M. Pauline, 73, of Sayre, Pa., passed away Thursday at his home following an extended illness.

Guy was born in Hazleton, Pa. on September 27, 1945, the son of the late Gaetano and Matilda (Yanuzzi) Pauline and the youngest of their seven children. He was a graduate of Hazleton High School and a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the U.S. Army. In August of 1970 he married the love of his life, Monica Pauline, née Shema, who was by his side for 48 years. Guy was a two-time heart transplant recipient and champion for organ donation and Vietnam Veterans causes.

As owner/operator of the KFC/Taco Bell in Sayre for 37 years until his retirement in 2013, Guy was a well-known and beloved businessman and member of the Sayre community. He enjoyed football and baseball, motorcycles and all things car related. Above all else, he loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend.

Guy was predeceased by his parents, his mother and father-in law Stephen and Irene T. Shema; brother John; niece Melissa Molinaro; nephew Rocco Paladino, Jr.; and brothers-in-law Al Mercantino and Philip Cusatis.

Surviving are his wife Monica Pauline; children, Kristen Pauline and her fiance Jim Dempsey, Gina Pauline and her fiance David Smalls, and Vanessa A. Williams and her husband Daniel; grandchildren, Baela Scharborough and Penelope Smalls; brother Joe and his wife Carol; sisters, Nella Demko and her husband John, Antoinette Pauline, Liz Mercantino and Genevieve Paladino; sister-in-law Joni Pauline; and numerous nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 3rd, at 9:30 A.M. in Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church, Hazleton.  Those attending should go directly to the church Monday morning.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Drums with full military honors.  Friends may call at the Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton, on Sunday from 6-8 P.M.
