Barbara Lynn Barnes, 59, of Hazleton, passed away Friday at her home surrounded by her family.  Born in Tamaqua, she was the daughter of Barbara (Matruder) Cessaro, Tamaqua, and the late Richard Kistler, and was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Parish at Transfiguration Church, West Hazleton.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her father, was her step-father Thomas Cessaro and sister Valerie Cessaro.

Barbara always saw to the needs of her family before herself.  She was an avid crafter and candy maker.  In memory of her sister, Valerie, who passed due to cancer, she was one of the founding members of Volunteers of Loving Care (VLC) which saw to the needs of local residents in times of illness.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband of 35 years, Robert Barnes; sons Jason Barnes, Missouri, and Nicholas, Mason, and Ethan Barnes; daughter Sheree Barnes, West Hazleton; granddaughter Jasmine Barnes, Missouri; sister Cathy Snyder and her husband Kevin, Spring Glen, PA; step-brother Thomas Cessaro, Hazleton; and nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, March 21st, at 9:30 A.M. in the Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. in Holy Name of Jesus Parish at Transfiguration Church, West Hazleton.  Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua.  A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-9 P.M.
