Anna M. Marnell

Anna M. Marnell, 101, of Hazleton, passed away peacefully Sunday morning at Mountain City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hazleton, where she had been a resident.  Born on September 15, 1916 in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Louisa (Maddon) Gaudiano.  She married  Dominick “Jakey” Marnell and was married 40 years before his death in 1984.

She was employed by the local garment industry and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.  She was a member lifelong member of Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church and was a member of the Christian Women and Madonnas Seniors.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking Italian specialties.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and her husband were her son Thomas Marnell in 2016; daughter-in-law Maryann Marnell; brothers John, Dominic, Louis, Pasco, and Salvador Gaudiano; and sisters Caroline Darcangelo and Theresa Greco.

Surviving are her son Joseph Marnell, Hazleton; daughter Nancy Kuljian and her husband Gordon, CA; daughter-in-law Charlotte Marnell; grandchildren Tara Lilley, Matthew, Joseph, and James Marnell, and Alexander, Garrett, and Tanner Kuljian; great grandchildren Jake, Mia, Nathan, and Joey Marnell and Lexi Lilley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 17th, at 9:30 A.M. in Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church.  Burial will be in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday morning in the church from 8:30 A.M. until the time of mass.
